An Exclusive Visit for SRH Campus Hamburg Students
At SRH Campus Hamburg, we believe in providing our students with hands-on learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. This summer semester, we were thrilled to offer a select group of students the opportunity to explore the cutting-edge production facilities of Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe in Jenfeld, Hamburg.
Olympus Medical Systems is renowned for developing and designing clinically advanced, precision technologies and services. As a global leader in medical systems, Olympus specializes in early diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment, offering products such as endoscopes, hand instruments, implants, and surgical supplies.
Our visit began with a brief introduction to the history and achievements of Olympus Medical Systems. Kevin Schulz, Senior R&D Engineer for the EMEA region, then guided us through various departments, showcasing the innovative work being done at the facility.
During our two-hour tour, we visited several key departments, including:
- CNC (Computer Numerical Control): Students witnessed the high-precision manufacturing processes essential for producing medical instruments.
- Rigid Endoscope Manufacturing: This department highlighted the intricate assembly of rigid endoscopes, demonstrating the meticulous attention to detail required.
- Mechanical Instruments: Students observed the creation of mechanical instruments used in various surgical procedures.
- Video Endoscopes: The tour concluded with a visit to the video endoscope department, where cutting-edge imaging technologies are developed and tested.
Our students could see these advanced technologies in action and gained a deeper understanding of the complex processes involved in their production. The live demonstrations of high-precision work provided invaluable insights into the field of medical systems.
