PROMOS

Funding for semester stays, internships, study and competition trips around the world.

What is PROMOS?

PROMOS funds can be used to support stays abroad outside Europe. PROMOS also considers projects such as specialised courses or short study trips that are not eligible for funding in any of the structured DAAD programmes (e.g. Erasmus+).

Are you planning a short internship in Australia? Do you dream of writing your thesis at the Kilimanjaro? Then the DAAD mobility programme PROMOS is the funding programme for you.

The funds are administered and allocated through our International Office. However, the search for and organisation of a degree, internship position or language course remains your responsibility.

What is supported?

Study trips outside the Erasmus+ programme. That is, if you want to spend a semester at a university outside Europe or at a European university with which there is no Erasmus+ contract.
The monthly scholarship rate is between EUR 300 and 500 depending on the destination country. A travel allowance may be granted at a later date.

For internships outside Europe you can apply for a PROMOS scholarship. Internships in Europe can be funded through PROMOS if Erasmus funding is excluded, e.g. if the Erasmus time quota has been depleted or if the internship is completed in Switzerland.
Internships at EU institutions, institutions and organisations that administer EU programmes, Germany's foreign missions, the Goethe Institutes and at the German Humanities Institutes are not eligible for PROMOS funding. You can apply for funding individually at the DAAD:

Funding rates range from EUR 300 to 500 per month depending on the target country and are based on the funding rates set by the DAAD.
